Play as Sonic or Mighty and accomplish various difficult levels in the Sonic Gaiden mod. The game emphasizes Sonic's ability to travel quickly through levels with springs, ramps, drops, and loops. The levels are populated with dangerous robots that Dr. Robotnik has imprisoned. Players must avoid colliding with spikes, plummeting into bottomless pits, being crushed by moving walls or platforms, and drowning, which can be avoided by inhaling air bubbles that occasionally emerge from vents. When a player collects 100 rings, they are granted an additional life. Sonic will survive if he holds on to at least one ring when he collides with hazardous foes or obstacles, as long as he has at least one ring in his possession. If he is struck while holding none of the jewels, he will lose his life. Have fun!
